Watch this great video of the pros hitting shots tracked by Pro Tracer and what do you notice?

Quite obviously the ball does not go straight! In fact most of the time the Pros do NOT hit a straight shot…and that is because they will favor their natural shot shape – either a draw or a fade. What it also shows us is where they are standing n the tee box for each shot…and you will notice for most shots (for the right handed players) they stand on the left side for a draw, and on the right side for a fade.

So don’t stress yourself trying to hit a straight-as-an-arrow drive down the middle as it is simply not that easy to do.

Figure out if you predominantly draw or fade the ball and tee up on the side of the tee box that promotes that shot shape.

If you are right handed and fade the ball, tee it up on the right side of the tee box, aim down the left and fade back to the middle.

If you draw the ball tee up on the left side of the tee box, aim down the right and draw back to the middle.

In this way you give yourself the most fairway to play with and will stand a much better chance of getting the ball to finish on the short grass.
